On Saturday evening, we had the privilege of hosting the Building Bridges Iftar, organized by Canadian Muslim Youth Services (CMYS) in collaboration with SABEEL Muslim Youth & Community Center.
More than 300 guests joined us for an evening of connection, reflection, and community building. The gathering brought together educators, elected officials, community leaders, and residents from across Nova Scotia to share in the spirit of Ramadan and strengthen relationships rooted in understanding, respect, and partnership.
We were honored to welcome leaders from across the political spectrum, including MP Braedon Clarke, Minister of Immigration Lena D iab, MLA Lina Hamid, MLA Damian Stoilov, Councillor Tim Outhit, as well as several current and former elected officials. Their presence demonstrated a shared commitment to collaboration, dialogue, and supporting diverse communities. When leaders come together in the spirit of service, it sends a powerful message that community comes first.
The evening also marked a significant milestone: the official launch of Canadian Muslim Youth Services (CMYS). Guided by the theme “From the Youth to the Future,” CMYS is dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship, academic support, leadership development, and skills training. Beyond personal growth, CMYS encourages youth to make meaningful contributions to society through initiatives such as blood drives, clothing donations, scholarships, and community service projects.
For us, building bridges is more than a theme—it is a responsibility. By fostering understanding, creating opportunities for engagement, and investing in the next generation of leaders, we can strengthen the bonds that unite our communities.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers, sponsors, partners, guests, and supporters who helped make this event a success. Your participation and commitment made the evening truly memorable, and we look forward to continuing this important work together.
